Low Tuck Kwong Biography
Born in Singapore three years after the island nation was taken back by allied forces, Low Tuck Kwong initially began working for his father’s construction company. He moved to Indonesia in 1972, becoming a citizen of his adopted country in 1992.
He moved nations in order to make a new life for himself and to make his fortune and the next step to achieving that was realized in 1997 when he bought his first coal mine. A year later he began operations in the Kalimantan coal terminal in Balikpapan. He founded Bayan Resources. A coal mining company and through which he became known as the “Coal King”.
Away from coal, Low has considerable interests in SEAX Global, the company building a sub marine cable system aimed at increasing connectivity between Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia and the Singapore companies Samindo Resources, The Farrer Park Company, Manhattan Resources and Voksel Electric.
